Saturday April 11th 2009 |
The Cowboy Classic Spring Boer Goat Production sale was held on Saturday, April
11, 2009 at the 4-M Farms sale facility in Yale, Oklahoma. We were blessed with
a beautiful day, standing room only crowd and a record outcome at the sales
conclusion. This sale was a difficult yet rewarding event as our hearts and
minds were with our late friend Harry Linam of 10 Buck 2 Boers, we did our best
to honor his memory and the toils of his labor. While attendees may have seen a
few tears shed it was due to the love, respect and friendship we have shared
with he and his family, we know he’s in a better place and his suffering has
ended, we rest easy knowing one day we’ll meet again.
It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces in the crowd as well as the many
new attendees at the sale. Bidders and buyers traveled from various locations in
Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico, Nebraska, Washington,
California, Kentucky, Mississippi, Georgia, Indiana and Tennessee. We had over 100
approved bidders on DV Auction as well as several hundred viewers. In addition,
the consignors stayed busy manning phone bids from various locations throughout
the United States. We especially appreciate Larry for doing such an outstanding
job on behalf of DV Auction, the crew from Cowboy.net were on hand as well to be
sure that things ran smoothly with the internet connections and broadcast. Prior
to the sale, attendees were treated to coffee and donuts for breakfast followed
by a barbeque dinner prepared by Bad Brads Barbeque of Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Smoked goat has become the meat of choice at this event! The menu also consisted
of Beef brisket, cowboy beans, and potato salad followed by dessert and an
abundance of cold beverages.
Consignors participating in this event were 4-M Farms, 10 Buck 2 Boers, Bobbie’s
Boers, K&D Boers, Windy Hill Ranch, Pro-Stock Boers, and 4-Horn Farms. This is a
great group to work with, with a consistent offering of top quality breeding and
show stock. The High Volume buyers were Scott and Margie Turner of 2 Bit Boer
Ranch, Bartlett, Texas. The Turners purchased the High Selling Buck, Lot # 20
RRD-10B2B AK-47, a 10 Buck 2 consignment selling for a Cowboy Classic record
price of $41,000.00. The High Selling Doe was Lot #21, Mein – 10B2B – Ruby’s
Chantilly Lace a 10 Buck 2 Consignment selling for $9,100.00. Ruby with 2 buck
kids at her side was purchased by Skylar Smith and family of S-T-S Boers,
McAlester, Oklahoma. The drawing for the 2 *AK-47 * straws, donated by 10 Buck 2
Boers were presented to Nick Long of Long Rock Boers, Wellston, Oklahoma. We
truly appreciate each and everyone who took the time to be with us and wish each
of you much luck and success with your purchases and projects
